Foster Care Publications
We offer several publications for anyone seeking quality books for children in foster care. Our newest publications are the Robbie Readers -- quick reads with activities in the back of each book. Titles include: "Moving to another Foster Home," "Wanting to Belong" and "Meeting my CASA."

The original "Robbie's Trail through Foster Care" is an engaging story about Robbie Rabbit's journey into foster care. Robbie is removed from his birthmother's home due to an unsafe environment. In kid terms, the story hints briefly of physical abuse (a caseworker checks Robbie's back and legs for "ouchies") before Robbie is placed with foster parents. Robbie meets his new foster family, learns what a foster kid is and experiences some commonplace behaviors as he adjusts to his new life. The ending is intentionally vague: Children don't know whether Robbie will end up with his mother or whether he'll ultimately be placed for adoption.
Unlike most other books for children in foster care, this story contains children's activities (conveniently located in the back of the book). Nine unique activities for "Robbie's Trail through Foster Care" cover important issues such as control, self-esteem, feelings, anger management and communication. Learn more about the children's activities by clicking here!
Each "Robbie's Trail through Foster Care" purchase includes a downloadable PDF of the 24-page adult guide, which is designed specifically to help foster parents and/or caseworkers facilitate the children's activities. (Those who prefer a hard-copy version of the guide can choose this option at checkout for an additional charge.)
Though not intended as comprehensive training for foster parents, the adult guide does provide a wealth of background information, several tips for dealing with children in foster care and perhaps much-needed perspective about chidren in foster care in general. Additionally, the adult guide includes instructions for facilitating each activity, talking points and answers when applicable. Learn more about the adult guide by clicking here!
